The Handel Haus and Gartenfest Tea Room are located at the 4-way stop in historic downtown Cole Camp, Missouri.
The Gartenfest Tea Room is more than a tea room. It is best described as a European-bistro-cafe' setting, where a warm fireplace embraces customers during the fall and winter, and a trickling water fountain provides a relaxed luncheon during the spring and summer.
Gartenfest Cook, Kathy Meyer, arrives as early as 6:00 A.M. each day to prepare all entree's the old fashioned way...from scratch. Regular menu choices include different types of quiche made with unique blends of specialty cheeses and, of course, a homemade crust. Spinach-Tomato, Ham-Mushroom-Swiss and Sausage-Cheddar are some of the most requested. Chicken salad, made with boneless chicken breasts and a unique blend of ingredients is served on fresh baked croissants. "Soup and Salad" is another excellent combination for a light, yet satisfying lunch. Spinach Provolone, Cream of Asparagus, and Cream of Broccoli, are just a few examples of daily varieties. Kathy also prepares two daily features. Men are tempted by heartier entree's such as chicken terrazzini, beef stroganoff, chicken enchiladas, and fettuccine alfredo. Women opt for Gartenfest's unique entree' salads. Romaine, spinach leaves, grilled chicken, fresh pears, feta cheese and seasoned pecans topped with raspberry vinaigrette dressing make the Gartenfest Grecian Salad uniquely delicious. Other entree salads, such as Curried Chicken and Pear, Chicken Casar, and Teryaki Grilled Chicken with Orange Ginger Dressing keep the menu always changing, never routine. Turtle Cheesecake, German Lemon Pie, German Coconut Cream Cake, Cinnamon Streusel, and Chocolate Chip Pecan Pie are just a few of Kathy's scrumptious desserts that keep customers coming back for more!
The Gartenfest Tea Room has lunch served from 11:00 A.M. till 2:00 P.M. on Monday through Saturday.
